Our vision

At St Mary's we want to be a place where you can explore and deepen your faith (whatever your starting point) and discover the depth of God's love for you in a welcoming and supportive environment. We want you to feel you can come just as you are, no matter what is going on in your life, and to feel part of a community. We want God to be at the heart of all we do, and our aim is to spread the good news of Jesus Christ to our local area and beyond, as a positive presence in the community.

What is important to us

Community

Whether it's celebrating harvest or Christmas together, supporting one another through a bereavement or illness, or helping out during a lean month with our food bank, we are here for each other in good times and bad.

Learning

We are all constantly learning, growing and developing in our faith. We have several lay (ie non ordained) members who are invited to lead services and to preach from time to time, and we encourage everyone to ask questions and participate in discussions.

Christ centredness

We try to be led by God in everything we do at St Mary's, empowered and inspired by the Holy Spirit and guided by the Bible.

Prayer

We believe that God hears our prayers, and we love to pray together. We regularly pray for one another at the end of services or gatherings, and you can ask for prayer in person, via the prayer box at the back of the church or via email at stmaryswelshnewton@gmail.com.

Nature

We are grateful for the beautiful, natural surroundings at St Mary's and believe we have a responsibility to care for God's creation. Find out more at our page about Eco Church.

The next generation

All ages and generations are welcome at St Mary's, to all of our services, and we're particularly delighted to include children. We do our best to include them in Communion services, and have dedicated activities for them at Outdoor Church.
